  1. Surf Gear: Although you have all the equipment at our surf camp, feel free to bring your own surfboard and wetsuite.
  2. Lightweight Clothing: Pack light and breathable clothing to stay comfortable in Sri Lanka’s tropical climate. Opt for quick-drying materials and include long-sleeve rashguards to protect your skin from the sun.
  3. Sun Protection: Sri Lanka can get quite sunny. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat to shield yourself from the sun’s rays.
  4. Mosquito Repellent: Depending on when you visit, mosquitoes can be quite active. A good insect repellent can help you stay comfortable and avoid mosquito-borne diseases.
  5. Travel Adapter: Sri Lanka uses Type D and Type G electrical sockets, so be sure to bring the appropriate travel adapter to charge your devices. Although in our surf camp you do not need to worry about that 🙂
  6. Travel Insurance: Always have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and potential surf-related injuries. Remember that things can happen, it’s better save than sorry.
  7. First Aid Kit: Carry a basic first aid kit with items like adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers.

Things to Consider Before Traveling to Sri Lanka

  1. Visa Requirements: Check the visa requirements for your nationality and ensure you have the necessary visa to enter Sri Lanka.
  2. Vaccinations: Consult your healthcare provider about recommended vaccinations and health precautions before traveling to Sri Lanka.
  3. Currency: Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) are the local currency. Ensure you have some local currency for small expenses, but credit cards are widely accepted in major tourist areas. We advice to draw some money at the airport when you arrive.
    1 Sri Lankan Ruppee = 0,0029 Euros = 0,0039 US Dollars
  4. Local Customs: Familiarize yourself with Sri Lankan customs and etiquette, such as appropriate clothing and behavior in temples. When you visit temples you need to be all cover, so if you want to visit them come prepared for that.
  5. Language: English is widely spoken in tourist areas, but learning a few basic Sinhala or Tamil phrases can go a long way in building rapport with locals. Simple words like:
    Good morning – ‘Subha udÇ£sanak’
    Obrigada – ‘Stutiyi’
  6. Transportation: Plan your transportation within Sri Lanka in advance. Tuk-tuks and buses are common modes of transport for short distances, while private drivers or domestic flights are options for longer journeys. In our surf camp we can advice you some private transportation 🙂

Now that you’re well-prepared for your surf adventure in Sri Lanka, it’s time to ride the waves and soak up the culture. We can’t wait to welcome you to our surf camp in Sri Lanka for an incredible surfing experience! Safe travels and stoked surfing!
